
Jaswendar, born and raised in Penang, worked in various fields including being a typist, clerk, secretary, voucher supervisor and budget analyst for the last 40 years of her life. Having spent 29 years of her life in Penang, she learnt how to speak Hokkien and Tamil and her children are constantly in amazement at her stories of how life used to be back then.
Chasing her lifelong aspiration of further studies, she embarked on an Undergraduate in Business Management degree at age 55 – all for self-satisfaction!
Jas also teaches Punjabi at the Punjabi Education Centre, Kg Pandan on Saturdays and is an active member of the Amrit Sanchar team, SNSM. A true storyteller and performer, she has spent many years singing kirtan and being the change, she wants to see.
Now full-time funny mum after retirement, she recently started dabbling into acting with S+S Theatre 2019 – Preeto, The Punjabi Aunty and is now busy writing about her experiences and memories.
